LaPorte Street Footbridge, Plymouth, Indiana

LaPorte Street Footbridge is a historic Kingpost Steel Bridge located in Plymouth, Indiana. Built in 1898 by the Rochester Bridge Company, the superstructure of the bridge consisted of a wooden deck, supported by 3 slender Wide-Flange beams. The existing beams had advanced deterioration and the bridge was in poor condition, with a perceptible lateral sway in the bridge of over 4 inches under the weight of ONE person walking on it.
